ESTELAB is a laboratory that offers a space for work, training and development of feature-length film projects from Latin America and Europe, with potential for international co-production for financial, technical and/or creative reasons.

 

The sixth edition of ESTELAB will be held in a mixed format (online and in-person) and will offer training and advisory spaces for film projects in the development phase from Latin America and Europe, with a special focus on Colombia and Peru. The objective of the laboratory is to strengthen film projects to enhance their chances of having international co-producers, presenting themselves in international markets and applying for various funding.

Who can apply?

Producers and directors from Latin America with

  • Projects in development phase

  • Feature-length fiction or documentary

  • With a written treatment, it is not mandatory to submit the script.

  • Secured financing is not required.

Sessions given by professionals from the international film industry covering topics related to the portfolio proposal, international law applied to cinema, pitching, etc. Exclusive for selected projects.

Synchronous online sessions

Each selected project will have the opportunity to access  a review session on specific aspects of their project in private meetings with the laboratory advisors.

Synchronous online sessions

Public sessions regarding issues related to co-production, successful experiences, exhibition of funds, international laboratories and other opportunities for strengthening, open to all interested parties (not just selected ones), prior registration.

ESTE LAB, an initiative of AL ESTE Film Festival, emerged in 2017 as a seminar dedicated to film professionals and people willing to get closer to international film production experiences mostly in Central and Eastern European countries. 

In 2019 this initiative was reformulated to generate a space for training and strengthening projects in development fase in Latin America, Peru and Europe.

The laboratory has had the presence of national and international professionals with outstanding careers.
